The objectives of this slide presentation on project delivery systems (PDS) were to:
provide an overview of City of Henderson and
the Department of Utility Services;
discuss Henderson's Project Delivery drivers
and history;
provide an overview of the PDS methodology;
describe the benefits, considerations and
challenges; and,
discuss the results to date. Project Delivery System Drivers included:
City's fast growth has led to the need to update
the ad-hoc project delivery process which
served the City well when it was smaller;
growing number of projects straining human
resources;
many Project Managers / Engineers handling
over 50 projects; lack of systematic process;
lack of agreed to process for managing the
project portfolio; difficulty of
planning, managing, controlling and
measuring projects; and, inability for management to obtain
consistent information on project status. Project history, the 9-step project methodology process, the project management (PM) process, example of a PM sub-process, PM tools, training and piloting approach, project delivery system benefits, considerations and challenges and results are all outlined.
