The objectives of this powerpoint presentation were to: characterize natural organic matter (NOM) and to define NOM "signatures"
in seawater and estuarine water reverse osmosis (RO) systems; and,
evaluate the effectiveness of NOM removal by
pretreatment processes used for RO systems
(Coagulation + DMF, MF, beach well). Analytical techniques to measure NOM include:
liquid chromatography coupled with multiple
detectors (LC-OCD-OND);
fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR); and,
fluorescence excitation emission matrix (F-EEM). Includes tables, figures.
