This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of invasive mussels, specifically zebra and quagga mussels, impacts of invasive mussels to drinking
water treatment, mussel control/treatment in the
western U.S., and proactive vs. reactive control strategies. Competing treatment objectives are presented and include:

maintaining flow;
treatment method can
impact down stream
processes and finished water
quality; and,
breakthrough or interruptions
in physical treatments for
settlement prevention can
result in downstream
attachment and adult growth. Topics presented include: chlorine as the most frequently
