This Water Research Foundation effort surveyed over 400
stakeholders including utilities, regulators,
engineers/consultants, vendors, and academics.
It sought to identify and characterize acceptance, use, and
barriers to expanded implementation of full-scale
biological drinking water treatment. Specific applications
and attributes of these processes were queried via an online
survey and selected case studies. Case studies were
developed both in the on-line survey and during
telephone interviews. Information was solicited on contaminants, design, monitoring, operations, and
effects of water quality and environmental conditions on performance. Includes figures.
