This standard describes the surface appear-ance and quality requirements for exterior painted parts. The requirements are described in terms of appearance attributes and surface blemishes for each zone within a part. The purpose of these requitements is to ensure that the level of final finish on GM vehicles will meet or exceed the level shown by our competitors and expected by our customers.

NOTE: Pasts may be topcoated in the assembly plant or be supplied to the assembly plant completely finished by an allied division or out-sourced supplier.

Deviations from this specification, if required, must be detailed in the appropriate past drawing. Capability to meet appearance requirements should be determined for each spe-cific substrate/paint combination at Phase 0.
