This Defence Standard (DEF STAN) provides guidance for designers and suppliers of Low Magnetic Signature equipment, Mine Countermeasures Vessels (MCMV). It includes specific requirements for the HUNT and Single Role Minehunter (SRMH).

The guidance and requirements cover magnetic fields due to fenomagnetic, eddy current and stray magnetic field sources. A general syetem description is given in Clauses 4.1.1 a to 4.1.1 f which outlines the system design principles.

The ferromagnetic design guide and requirements contain practical working rules which must be used only as a guide. The verification processes for equipment acceptance are described.
