This Standard covers the requirements for pipelines, pipe couplings, and associated connections to components used in aircraft fluid systems, but excluding those used in aero-engines. (Note : The requirements for aero-engines are specified in D Eng RD 2300.)

This Standard introduces a pipe coupling system known as the 'British Metric Swaged Pipe Coupling', details of which are published in SBAC Standards AS 43020 and AS 43090. This coupling system was developed and approved under HOD(PE) auspices specifically for aircraft use, but may also be suitable for other applications subject to the approval of the' appropriate Design Authorities.

The requirements of this Standard do not apply to:

Connections made by use of 'V-flange couplings conforming to DEF STAN 53-68.

Connections made using beaded pipe ends conforming to DEF STAN 47-23.

Connections on pipes having an outside diameter larger than 28 mm.
