This Standard provides project officer/design authorities with the requirements and technical advice relating to the selection of batteries for equipment intended for Ministry of Defence use.
This Standard promulgates the Ministry of Defence policy on the standardization of batteries.
This Standard presents the factors that determine particular battery requirements, establishes a selection process to meet these requirements and sets out the typical performance characteristics of batteries. (See annex B, figures 1, 2, 3 & 4).
Technical information on the characteristics of suitable batteries for weapon systems and advice on their use is given in Def Stan 08-5.
