This INTERIM Defence Standard specifies the requirements for the packaging of rigid and/or flexible metal pipes and pipe assemblies, with a minimum fragility factor of 100 gn and a high resistance to corrosion, to military levels P and N.

Note: Fragile components with a known fragility factor will require a new design.

It is based on a Primary Packaging Quantity (PPQ) of one or a PPQ of less than 10 kgs.

Typical pipes covered by this specification are those between 2 and 50 mm internal diameter and less than 3 meters in length. The metal pipes may be of any configuration, with or without branch connectors, and are vulnerable to being dented or crushed in transit or storage.
