This standard specifies the requirements for the packaging of mechanical components to Military Levels P, N and J.

This standard only covers components with a minimum fragility factor of 100 g, and Primary Packaged Quantities (PPQ’s) that are single, multiple, kits or sets, up to and including 5 kg mass.

Typical items covered by this standard are:

a. bolts, nuts, screw thread inserts, studs and washers;

b.  brackets, cases, covers and webbing straps;

c.  bushes, collars and spacers;

d. catches, cleats, clip, fasteners and retaining rings;

e.  gears;

f. pins, rivets, shafts and spindles;

g. plates and decal transfers;

h. springs.
