AIM
The aim of this agreement is to define the minimum criteria nder which:
a. A Forward Air Controller (FAC)1 is qualified in specific control techniques. Nations will determine which control techniques their FACs will be qualified in: Combat Ready (CR) Day High (DH), CR Day Low (DL), CR Night High (NH) and CR Night Low (NL). Initial CR qualifications will only be obtained with fixed wing close air support (CAS) or training aircraft.
b. A FAC is initially qualified "Limited Combat Ready (LCR)".
c. A FAC can upgrade to "Combat Ready (CR)" qualifications.
d. CR currenciees are maintained.
e. Re-currencies may be attained.
f. CR or LCR qualifications may be lost.
g. Initial qualification of a ground based Laser Operator (LO) may be attained.
h. LO qualification is maintained.
i. LO re-qualification is attained.
This will promote safety and flexibility of NATO forces when conducting CAS.
