The aim of this agreement is to define minimum criteria under which:

a. A Forward Air Controller (FAC) is initially qualified "Limited Combat Ready (LCR)".

b. A FAC can upgrade to "Combat Ready (CR)" qualifications.

c. CR currencies are maintained.

d. Re-currency may be attained.

e. CR or LCR qualifications will be lost.

This will promote safety and flexibility of NATO forces when conducting Close Air Support (CAS). It may also enhance the rationalisation of FAC training.
