The purpose of this agreement is to standardize the criteria under which

a. a FAC may initially be qualified "combat ready (CR)"

b. "combat ready" status may be maintained

c. "combat ready" status will be lost, but "limited combat ready (LCR)" status may be maintained.

This will promote the flexibility of the NATO air forces when providing close air support and it may enhance the rationalization of FAC training.
