Purpose
The purpose of this Notice Board is to remind all those who participate in the remitting and specifying of work on signalling systems that they have an obligation to seek out ‘reasonable opportunity’ to more efficiently deliver engineering safety solutions to control railway system risks. This is required by general health and safety law, the CDM regulations, is explicitly stated in signalling asset policy, supports the ‘Safe by Design’ initiative and is a commitment made to both RAIB and to ORR. The outcome is a reduction of ‘tunnel vision’ on scope.
