This procedure applies to weld repairs to tri-metallic zones.

The requirements for weld repairs to Tri Metallic Zones can be found in NR/L2/TRK/0132 Mod02 Clause 6, Repairs to Tri-Metallic Welds (TMZ) on AMS crossing leg end extensions.

NOTE: Weld repairs to tri-metallic zones (TMZ’s) are not permitted within 300mm of the stainless-steel insert on the 260-grade rail or 20mm on the AMS grade rail.

Purpose 

To provide a repair procedure within tri-metallic zones to improve asset life, availability, and cost saving.
