This standard describes the assessment processes for identifying a ‘high risk' site in respect of conditions of low adhesion between the wheel and the rail, and shall be used by Route Directors to enable appropriate action to be taken in accordance with GE/RT8040.

Purpose

The purpose of this standard is to consistently identify any location which may be classified as a ‘high risk' site in respect of conditions of low adhesion between the wheel and the rail on Network Rail Managed Infrastructure, and to define a structured process to alter the status of such locations.
