This module defines the processes and hierarchy of controls for use when establishing a site of works segregated from the operational railway on a platform within a station environment. 

If more than 1.25m from the platform edge, and a risk assessment supports this, activities such as taking photographs and visual surveys, such as a reasonable passenger might do, can be carried out without segregation under NR/L2/OHS/00130. 

Activities such as these are not allowed to impede the operation of the platform or operational equipment.

Purpose 

This module provides risk-based controls to works on a platform within a station environment so it can be segregated from the railway. 

The module eliminates, or reduces to as low as reasonably practicable, risk to the operational railway. Once the site of work designated as segregated from the railway is set up, NR/L2/OHS/019 does not have to be applied and non-PTS operatives can be utilised. 

All other relevant Network Rail standards are applicable to works using this module.
