This Network Rail document specifies the process for recording track geometry at the required frequencies using approved methods. It also specifies the distribution, analysis processes and retention of records made of the track geometry during the recording run.

This document applies to all Maintenance staff, geometry recording staff and geometry processing staff, whose duties include the identification, analysis, planning and rectification of track geometry. It stipulates who has a role in these processes and their accountability.

This document applies to running lines as described in NR/L2/TRK/001/mod11.

Purpose

The purpose of this document is to describe the control process to prevent the risk of derailment caused by track faults of a severity known as ‘Immediate Action Level’ & ‘Intervention Level’ faults. This document specifies process to be taken where substandard track is identified. It is the prequel to actions undertaken by NR/L2/TRK/001/mod11; so that the safety of the line can be maintained until any necessary track repair is completed.
