Introduction
Stagework may be necessary when all the installation cannot be brought into use at one time and so is introduced in stages. The stagework is temporary wiring needed to adapt the existing and new installations to suit the intermediate operating arrangements.
Stagework usually adds to the complication of the work, and although the ideal is to have none at all, when it is required it is designed to ease or shorten the changeover work at commissioning.
Installation drawings for all stagework will be issued. When one installation is to have several consecutive stages, a separate set of drawings will be issued for each stage.
If there is more than one stage, the aim will be that the installation work (including recoveries) for one stage will be completed before the next begins. Occasionally, this may not be practicable, but if installation work for several stages does overlap it shall be pre-arranged in the testing and commissioning plan.
You should not allow the installation work (including recoveries) for more than one stage to overlap unless the drawings or other authority specially require you to do so.
All the instructions in Module 1D20 shall be complied with when installing stagework wiring at existing installations.
