This specification covers access points, Authorised Walking Routes, Cess Walkways, Positions of Safety and individual features such as access ladders, to and on Railtrack's infrastructure.

PURPOSE

This specification has two purposes:

1. to set out the design, construction and maintenance requirements for facilities providing access onto, along and across the track for persons whose duties require them to be on or near the line;

2. to give the criteria for the provision of these facilities, in terms of linespeed and number of tracks.
