This specification applies to all new protection equipment installed in association with high voltage switchgear on A.C. Electrified Lines. The equipment may supplement but does not replace any protection required as part of other Railtrack Line specifications (e.g. gas surge protection on transformers).

Purpose

This specification states the requirements for the design, manufacture and testing of protection equipment for use in conjunction with high voltage switchgear to provide protection against overloads, short circuits and monitoring of supply parameters.
