Purpose
As a result of the original agreement between the British Railways Board, GEC General Signal (now ALSTOM) and Westinghouse Brake and Signal (Now Westinghouse Rail Systems), SSI equipment. manufactured by them is generally interchangeable at the modular level. The exception to this rule is when the Interlocking MPMs, and MMs, are of the 2MHz variety; in this case the replacement module shall be from the same manufacturer as the failed module. Note that specification and catalogue numbers are correct at the time of issue but may not always be maintained up-to-date.
