This Technical Instruction applies to full-depth switches with fixed stretcher bar assemblies in facing and trailing configurations. It applies where broken, cracked, missing, loose or detached stretcher bars and associated brackets are identified during normal maintenance work or while undertaking the inspections mandated by NR/SIN 099 and NR/SIN 101.
Purpose
There is an inconsistency in the wording of the relevant section of NR/SP/SIG/19807, and NR/SMS/PF01 issue 5. Since the issue of TI 076 issue 2, the data from NR/SIN 099 has been reviewed and further inspection work has been initiated in SIN 101. Amended remedial actions, as defined in the enclosed action chart, can be implemented following the discovery of defects. This Technical Instruction mandates that staff undertaking work on the equipment identified in the scope shall observe the requirements of this instruction instead of the relevant sections of NR/SP/SIG/19807, NR/SMS/PF01 section 2.7 and TI 061 section 3. This issue supersedes issue 2 of TI 076. The requirements of TI 076 Issue 2 with regards to Adjustable Stretcher Bars have been transferred to TI 08x which will be issued shortly.
