An experimental method has been developed to measure the thermal contactresistance of plate finned-tube heat exchangers. The thermal contact resistance occurs at the fin collar and tube bond. The method minimizes the reliance of the measurement on the internal and external heat transfer coefficients and determines the thermal contact resistance of the fin bond indirectly. The method is compared to the similar techniques used by Dart and refined by Eckels.
