This paper focuses on the survival of airborne bacteria on building materials and surfaces.

An experimental methodology to study the behavior of materials in relation to airborne biopollutants has been performed. It is used to re-create, under fairly realistic conditions, the biocontamination of materials using an airborne purposely designed bacterial aerosol. The contamination of materials by air can thus be simulated, and the survival of microbial populations on the surface of materials can be observed in various environmental conditions (RH).

Survival of Pseudomonas fluorescens has been studied on different surfaces. Different survival behaviors have been observed, depending on the surface properties and environmental conditions, and results are discussed.
