This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the Singapore Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, and in particular the Public Utilities Board (PUB), a statutory board constituted under the
Public Utilities Act of 2001 to provide
integrated water supply, sewerage and
drainage services to Singapore. PUB manages the complete water cycle
from sourcing, collection, purification and supply of drinking water, to treatment of used
water and turning it into NEWater, and drainage of storm water. The presentation focuses on Integrated Water Resource
Management that consists of
4 National Taps and 3P Approach.
4 National Taps consists of: local catchment waters; imported water from Johor; NEWater; and, desalinated water. A timeline of the NEWater journey is provided, along with NEWater demonstration study; an effective communication plan; strong political and grassroots support; and, continual public education.
