This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the city of Adelaide, South Australia, and its water supply from the Murray-Darling Basin. The effects of climate change and the harshest drought on record resulted in the
South Australian government
implementing a four-way strategy to
secure water for the future. Part of that strategy, and the subject of this presentation, was a study for a seawater desalination plant
to be constructed at Port Stanvac,
south of Adelaide. The purpose of the concept design is presented, along with a flexible water supply, intake and transfer pipeline, desalination plant concept design, Adelaide Desalination Plant layout, process flow diagram, power efficiency and energy recovery, and progress since concept design.
