This slide presentation outlines Structured Testing as a methodology that uses standardized
programming and testing procedures to
efficiently demonstrate compliance with Standards, and
accuracy of I/O addressing parameters from the
PLC code to HMI data links prior to field
installation. Testing is based upon:
uniform project programming standards;
clear / quantifiable test objectives; and,
dynamic testing in safe, stable environments. CDM developed structured
testing
to create project efficiency for a complex
control system implementation, to
reduce down-time, errors, and other problems
in Automation strategy implementation,
to integrate into existing On-Line systems with
minimal scheduled plant interruptions, and to
prevent unintentional process interruptions. The presentation outlines topics that cover: automation upgrade overview and issues; key components of the structured solution; developing programming standards; tag naming standards; Register Mapping Standards -
Numbering Breakdown; PLC Programming - Register
Standards; PLC Programming Organization
Standard; HMI Animation Standards; The Structured Solution - Develop Standard Testing Procedures; Benefits of structured testing
approach; and, lessons learned. Includes tables.
