This slide presentation outlines online water quality monitoring event detection and describes its processes which include: applying event detection algorithms to the data to
filter out the anomalies that normally occur, or which
have known causes;
signaling only those events that are likely to be possible
contamination incidents; and, reducing
the false positive rate without missing potential events. This process has multiple benefits that include: identifying process malfunctions;
preventing potential regulatory infractions; and,
increasing operational awareness. The presentation outlines the current uses of event detection, the process for evaluation, selection, and field testing of event detection software (EDS), key metrics, Advanced Simulation and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Emulation Tool (ASSET), Asset functions and interfaces, event detection and CWS data management, CWS data management objectives, and issues and challenges for event detection. Includes tables, figures.
