This Standard specifies requirements for Unit Loads (ULs) of ammunition for MOD use.

This Standard does not include UL detailed information. This may be found in JSP 422.

NOTE Ammunition ULs come within the definition of "Overpack" given in ADR which is invoked in the Carriage Regulations SI 2009.No1348

This Standard does not include design requirements for Unit Load Containers (ULCs) which are specially designed containers for ammunition, which incorporates the standard pallet criteria as an integral part of its design to enable the load to be handled by Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) through the logistic chain. However, for labelling purposes ULC's are to be treated as Overpacks (see clause 11).
