This Notice Board can only be used when specially authorised by the Regional Signalling Engineer with it’s use documented and the relevant standards variations in place to support its use.

It cannot be used for any other purpose. 

Purpose 

This Notice Board and the accompanying Appendix set out advice from the Network Technical Head [Signalling] on prioritisation of inspection and maintenance of signalling assets where a variation against NR/L3/SIG/10661 is requested and authorised because the full maintenance regime cannot be supported. 

It provides advice on cancellation of services using the variation process, and the factors that should be considered as part of that decision. 

The Standards Variations contained in the previous Notice Board HAVE NOT been extended. Variations are required to be authorised per DU prior to application or continuation of the guidance. 

This Notice Board does not include any new processes and is not to be used to change maintenance regimes for any other reason. 

Included in this Notice Board are: 

a) A list of critical tasks which are deemed essential to the safe running of the railway. 

b) A prioritised list of maintenance tasks (Appendix A). 

c) Generic risk assessment of tasks which can be used to support cancellation of maintenance services (Appendix A). 

d) Guidance on limits related to prioritisation and cancellation of work in Ellipse. 

e) Guidance on changes to assurance processes which support safety critical maintenance activities.
