This standard applies to all Plain Line and Switches & Crossings Track refurbishments and renewals funded by the Capex budget for current and future Control Periods.

Similar principles may be applied to Enhancements where appropriate.

Track components in scope are rail, fastenings, sleepers, ballast, formation, slab track and switches & crossings. Longitudinal Timbers and Buffer Stops are also included.

Purpose

This standard describes:

a) the process and information required for the identification and development of a Track Problem Statement for a Track refurbishment or renewal to inform Region / Route strategy; and

b) the process for managing Track Work Items and creating a Track refurbishment and renewal Work Bank.
