A Visual Examination will apply to assets listed in Table 1, where a Visual Examination has been instructed by the RAM (B/C).

NOTE: The RAM (B/C) may instruct a Visual Examination for site types not covered in Table 1.

Purpose

This module sets out the requirements for a Visual Examination of Operational Property Structures and Fabric to mitigate the risk of functional failure of an Operational Property asset which might result in health, safety, environmental or operational incidents.

The data gathered from visual examinations will be used to inform decisions on the actions and remedial works that need to be included in a prioritised programme of planned preventative maintenance, repair or renewal (if required) until the next inspection so that there is no unacceptable risk to the safety or performance of the assets.
