This maintenance specification applies to all rail clamp point lock configurations defined within Railtrack Line Code of Practice RT/E/C/11774 ‘Rail Clamp Point Locks', Issue 1, December 2000.

This maintenance specification DOES NOT include tasks associated with the following:

• Testing activities for earth leakage detection.

• Maintenance of any point heater equipment.

• Maintenance of power supply equipment

This maintenance specification shall be applied where implementation of Risk-Based Maintenance has been authorised in accordance with Railtrack Line Specification RT/E/S/10662 ‘Process for the Introduction of New or Revised Maintenance Regimes for Signalling Assets'.

The frequency of application of the tasks defined in this specification is defined in the RT/E/S/10661, ‘Signalling Maintenance Task Intervals'.

This maintenance specification contains a number of minor tasks normally associated with track maintenance activities. The inclusion of these tasks in no way reduces the separate requirement for track maintenance in accordance with:

• RT/CE/S/053 ‘Inspection and Repair Procedures to Reduce the Risk of Derailment at Switches'.

• RT/CE/S/103 ‘Track Inspection Requirements'.

• RT/CE/S/104 ‘Track Maintenance Requirements'.

To detail the maintenance tasks required for the Rail Clamp Point Lock risk-based maintenance regime.
