This instruction applies to the campaign change programme for DCIs that is being managed by Infrastructure Investment Group and shall not be used for any other changes. Where the installation presently have white only DCI then the campaign change will replace the DCI and the DRL can be brought into operation. Should there be issues that prevent the DRL from being brought into operation then the DCI should be replaced and the red aspect removed from the new DCI and its aperture blanked off using the approved blanking plate.

Purpose

This Technical Instruction supports TI 137 where LED DCI units are to be fitted in place of the existing incandescent lamp units. This TI allows the change of the DCI to LED by using the campaign change Test Plan contained within this TI. This work will replace the DCI head for an LED type and any changes to the circuitry that are required. Generally these changes are in the illumination of the LED and NOT in the controls, therefore this work is deemed as non-conceptual design. Where the DCI is presently white (DWL) only a simple design is required and can be achieved it is authorised as part of the campaign change based upon the example diagram appended to this TI. so long as the competency criteria has been met.
